Wellness Habits After 50 That Changed My Life

Wellness Habits After 50:  A lot of people assume wellness comes from finding one perfect supplement, one skincare product, or one magic routine.

After more than 20 years as an acupuncturist, I’ve found the opposite to be true.

The biggest changes in my health have come from small, sustainable habits that I’ve repeated over months and years. None of them are particularly glamorous, and none of them work overnight. But together, they’ve helped me feel stronger, sleep better, support my skin, navigate midlife, and create a life that feels healthier from the inside out.

I don’t do every one of these every single day, and I’m definitely not chasing perfection. Wellness has become less about doing more and more about choosing the things that consistently make me feel my best.

Below are the 12 habits that have earned a permanent place in my life. I’ll also link the exact products and devices I personally use, since I know many of you ask.

1. Manuka Honey

One of my favorite morning rituals is making a cup of tea with Manuka honey. I keep several UMF strengths on hand depending on the season, and it’s become one of those simple habits that reminds me to slow down before the day gets busy.

2. Manta Sleep Mask

I underestimated how much complete darkness could improve my sleep until I started using the Manta Sleep Mask. The adjustable eye cups block out every bit of light without putting pressure on my eyes, making it comfortable enough to wear all night. I never travel without it.

3. NAD+ Support

Healthy aging has become one of my biggest priorities in my 50s. NAD+ support is one piece of that bigger picture. I think of it as something that complements good nutrition, movement, and sleep rather than replacing them. Like most wellness habits, consistency matters much more than perfection.

4. Doctor Rogers Skincare

My skin has become more sensitive as I’ve gotten older, which means I’ve become much more selective about what I use. Doctor Rogers has become the foundation of my skincare routine because the formulas are simple, gentle, and effective. They’re products I reach for every morning and every night without having to think twice.

5. Laser Light Therapy

I’ve tested quite a few light therapy devices over the past year, and laser light therapy has become one of my favorite wellness technologies. It’s easy to fit into my evening routine while I’m reading or winding down, which makes it something I actually stick with. Learn more about red light and laser here.

6. Microcurrent

Microcurrent is my favorite beauty tool before filming content or attending an event. It gives me a temporary refreshed, lifted look in just a few minutes, making it one of those devices I reach for when I want a little extra confidence.

7. Acupuncture

I’ve been practicing acupuncture since 2002, but I still make receiving treatments a priority for myself. Taking care of other people starts with taking care of yourself. It’s been one of the most consistent parts of my own wellness routine for over two decades.

8. Vibration Plate

Some mornings I have plenty of time to exercise. Other mornings I don’t. That’s why I love having a vibration plate at home. It makes it easy to fit movement into busy days, and because it’s convenient, I actually use it consistently.

9. Sleep Tracking

One of my favorite sayings is, “You can’t improve what you don’t measure.” Tracking my sleep has helped me identify patterns I never would have noticed otherwise. I don’t use the data to obsess over every number. I use it to make better decisions. I love my Oura Ring!

10. Hormone Replacement Therapy

As estrogen declined, I noticed changes in my sleep, skin, energy, and overall well-being. Working with my healthcare provider to find the right hormone replacement therapy has been one of the most impactful decisions I’ve made in midlife. Every woman’s situation is different, but for me, it’s been life changing.

11. Sauna

Sauna has become one of my favorite places to disconnect. It’s less about checking another wellness box and more about creating intentional time to slow down, breathe, and simply be present. I almost always leave feeling calmer than when I walked in. We have an Almost Heaven Barrel Sauna in our backyard,

12. Non-Toxic Cleaning Products

Wellness isn’t just about what I put in my body. It’s also about the environment I spend time in every day. Over the past year, I’ve gradually replaced many of my conventional household cleaners with lower-tox alternatives. I didn’t do it all at once, but one swap at a time made it manageable. I should have started earlier.

Wellness Habits after 50 Philosophy

If there’s one thing I’ve learned after decades of working with patients and navigating my own health, it’s this: wellness isn’t built through occasional grand gestures. It’s built through small choices repeated consistently.

I don’t believe you need an elaborate morning routine or a cabinet full of supplements to be healthy. Start with one habit that feels realistic. Maybe it’s getting better sleep, making time for movement, finding a skincare routine you actually enjoy, or creating five quiet minutes with a cup of tea each morning.

Those small rituals become the foundation. Over time, they begin to shape not just your health, but the way you move through your life.

I hope this list gives you a few ideas to explore and encourages you to build a wellness routine that feels sustainable, enjoyable, and uniquely your own.
