Fertility acupuncture aims to enhance fertility in both men and women by improving overall reproductive health, regulating hormones, and reducing stress. It is often used as a complementary therapy alongside conventional medical treatments such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) or other assisted reproductive technologies.
Here are some key points about fertility acupuncture:
Regulation of Hormones: Acupuncture may help regulate the hormones involved in the menstrual cycle and ovulation, which can improve fertility in women. It can also support hormone balance in men, potentially improving sperm quality.
Increased Blood Flow: Acupuncture can improve blood flow to the reproductive organs, including the ovaries and uterus. This increased blood flow may enhance the chances of successful implantation of the fertilized egg.
Stress Reduction: Fertility struggles can cause significant emotional and psychological stress. Acupuncture sessions can promote relaxation, reduce anxiety, and alleviate stress, indirectly improving fertility outcomes.
Support during Assisted Reproductive Techniques: Many individuals undergoing fertility treatments like IVF or intrauterine insemination (IUI) choose to incorporate acupuncture alongside these procedures. Acupuncture may help optimize the chances of success by promoting a favorable environment for implantation and supporting overall well-being during the treatment process.
Individualized Treatment: Fertility acupuncture is personalized according to an individual’s specific needs and underlying fertility issues. Acupuncturists will assess the individual’s overall health, medical history, and fertility concerns to create a tailored treatment plan.
After Googling fertility and acupuncture in the Portland area I was lucky enough to happen upon Blossom’s website. My husband and I had been trying to get pregnant for 1 1/2 years with no luck. 3 months of acupuncture and herbal supplements later and success! I couldn’t have been happier with Liz, the whole clinic and our experience in general. Both my husband and I will continue with acupuncture at Blossom to treat anything that may come up in the future.C.M.
