IVF Acupuncture in Portland
Acupuncture Support for IVF, Embryo Transfer, and Implantation
IVF acupuncture in Portland provides integrative support during ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval, embryo transfer, and implantation.
At Blossom Clinic, Liz Richards, L.Ac., has supported patients undergoing IVF and IUI cycles since 2002. With more than two decades of clinical experience in fertility-focused Traditional Chinese Medicine, she collaborates closely with reproductive endocrinologists and local fertility clinics throughout the Portland area.
Acupuncture is commonly used alongside assisted reproductive technologies to support hormonal balance, circulation, and nervous system regulation during treatment.
How IVF Acupuncture May Support Your Cycle
Acupuncture during IVF cycles may help support:
• Uterine blood flow and endometrial lining development
• Stress hormone regulation during stimulation
• Nervous system balance before embryo transfer
• Recovery after egg retrieval
• Emotional resilience throughout treatment
• Overall reproductive health
Each treatment plan is individualized based on your diagnosis, medication protocol, lab work, and cycle timing.
When to Begin IVF Acupuncture
Ideally, acupuncture begins 3 months before starting an IVF cycle to support hormonal regulation and optimize reproductive health.
However, meaningful support can still be provided during:
• Ovarian stimulation
• Frozen embryo transfer cycles
• Natural transfer cycles
• The week of embryo transfer
Day of Embryo Transfer Acupuncture in Portland
Many patients choose acupuncture around the time of embryo transfer.
Prior to 2020, sessions were often provided onsite at fertility clinics. Currently, patients are treated at Blossom Clinic either the morning of transfer or the day prior.
For out-of-town patients, same-day embryo transfer acupuncture appointments may be available.
Treatment during transfer week focuses on nervous system regulation, circulation support, and creating a calm physiological environment for implantation.
Is Acupuncture Safe During IVF?
Yes. Acupuncture is widely used during IVF cycles and is considered safe when performed by a licensed acupuncturist trained in fertility care.
Treatment protocols are adjusted carefully based on medication phase and cycle stage.
